IPL 2023: LSG will not reach playoffs this season, predicts Aaron Finch

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch feels that Lucknow Super Giants wil struggle to reach the playoffs in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Analysing the team ahead of the IPL 2023 season, Finch said that he does not see the team breaking into the playoffs due to their bowling line-up. Finch predicted that the team will not be very good in the death overs of the game, which could cost them points in the upcoming season.
“I see a potential weakness in the Lucknow Super Giants, being their death bowling. I think they’ve got a lot of options throughout the middle, they’ve got some good all-rounders. But I think, when you look at the combinations, finding good quality four overs of death bowling will be a real challenge for them,” Finch said on Star Sports.
Asked about the preferred combination of overseas players, Finch chose one from South Africa, West Indies, Australia and England.
“I think the first choice overseas 4 for the Lucknow Super Giants, obviously Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and I think adding Mark Wood to their squad, can have a huge impact for them,” Finch said.
In the same interview, Finch had called Pooran the potential game-changer in the LSG squad.
LSG started off their season well in the 2022 edition of the tournament, but petered out as the tournament progressed. The KL Rahul side although reached the playoffs of the tournament, but were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator at Eden Gardens.
